When Everything Changes -Change Everything by Neale Donald WalschThis book really did change the way I thought about change. Neale Donald Walsch has written a wonderful summary on how change works and how to turn "change" into a positive evolution in life rather than a "crisis". This books talks about the layers of change from the mental constructs to the spiritual implications and everything inbetween. No one said change was easy, but it doesn't have to be painful either and Neale's book will help you on the path to sorting it all out. |
Waking the Tiger By Peter LevineWaking the Tiger is great book on human trauma, both everyday traumas and the "big event" traumas that most people think of when they hear the word. This book offers a new and hopeful vision of trauma. It views the human animal as a unique being, endowed with an instinctual capacity. It asks and answers an intriguing question: why are animals in the wild, though threatened routinely, rarely traumatized? By understanding the dynamics that make wild animals virtually immune to traumatic symptoms, the mystery of human trauma is revealed. |
When Things Fall Apart by Pema Chodron
With unflinching compassion Pema Chodron guides us in facing and embracing what we think we cannot survive. Grounded in her Buddhist experience and practice, this book gives guidance on breaking out of habitual patterns and speaks on how to maintain your center in the middle of chaos. I couldn’t think of a more needed thing in times such as these. |
Grieving Mindfully by Sameet Kumar
I don't think that I could possible describe this book any better than the author did. "Grief is a personal journey, never the same for any two people and as unique as your life and your relationships. Although loss is an inevitable part of life, how you approach this fact can make the difference between meaningless pain and the manifestation of understanding and wisdom. This book describes a mindful approach to dealing with grief that can help you make that difference. By walking this mindful path, you will discover that you are capable of transforming and healing the grief you carry and finding the spiritual and emotional resilience you need to move through this challenging time." YES to this. |
Tear Soup by Pat Schwiebert and Chuck DeKlyenA sweet and wonderfully illustrated book for adults and children alike that takes on the topic of grieving in a very endearing and somehow serious way. The bottom line is that everyone grieves in their own way and it is all ok. It is also a great educational tool on how to deal with someone who is grieving. Since grief is such an uncomfortable topic for many, this is a very timely book. |
Jonathan Livingston Seagull by Richard BachI picked up this book and loved it so much that I ended up reading it in one sitting. It is the story of a Seagull who is not enamored with typical seagull behaviors and wishes to perfect his flight. He becomes ostracized by the other seagulls because he is challenging them and is "weird" (sound familiar). But he keeps on following his dreams and once realized comes back to show the other seagulls that they too can step out of their mundane existences and achieve their dreams. A delight to read full of inspiration, freedom and passion. |
