"The least of things with a meaning is worth more in life than the greatest of things without it."  ~Carl Jung

Guiding You Towards Deep Understanding and Meaning

  • Have you found yourself in the midst of a life change that has you wondering what now?
  • Is it time to find greater meaning and understanding so you can consciously create the life that you are longing for and is rightfully yours?
  • Are you dealing with the aftermath of change and the accompanying grief, anger and longing?  Do you want to heal and find a way to a brighter future?

You have come to the right place.  Opening up to where you are, and how this lines up with where you want to be is a beautiful first step towards living a full, passionate, and hopeful life.  It is in these first steps that you begin to recreate your life to be in alignment with who you are on a soul level, to build a relationship with the part of yourself that doesn't operate through linear thought and understanding, towards realizing just how powerful you are.

There are a great many misunderstanding about how we "create our own reality" or the "law of attraction" that was popularized by the movie The Secret. While I do believe that we are powerful creators, we do not create our external realities by ourselves. The external, physical reality and the things that happen to us are something that we are creating collectively.  This means that we are not solely responsible for the things that happen to us: our socioeconomic status, where and to whom we were born, a devastating illness, a loved ones death, trauma from childhood, a car crash, job loss. This not only applies to the "negative" events of our lives but to the "positive" ones as well.

I repeat. WE ARE NOT SOLELY RESPONSIBLE FOR THE EXTERNAL THINGS THAT HAPPEN TO US. The belief that we are brings about incredible amounts of  judgement, shame, separation, and suffering in our world. Every one of us affects the whole and the whole affects us deeply. We have an endemic and pathological reliance on individualism, particularly in the US.  This cultural story is not serving us any longer. We are entering a time of interdependence.

The reality that we can change dramatically, and do have control over is our internal reality. The stories that we hold around what happened, who we are, what we are good and bad at, what is possible for ourselves, places we are emotionally and energetically stuck due to trauma, the understanding of what a particular experience means for us.

This matters because it helps to shift our focus away from the things that happened to us, and towards the beliefs and stories that keep us stuck in patterns that are no longer serving: the places the trauma is stuck in your body, the anxiety that you are never safe or good or enough, the story of how unfair it is to have lost your partner or child too soon, the meaning behind your spouse leaving you. This opens space for awareness of the magic that is surrounding us in each and every moment.

There is nothing wrong with feeling victimized. Often we are at the mercy of life circumstances, or the actions and choices of others. Sometimes life takes something so precious from you that it forever changes who you think you are, or you reach a point where you are tired of being sick and tired but you don't yet see a way forward. You wonder where your passion went and how you ended up in a life that looks like yours does now.

It is our very real need for interdependence and connection which drives us to heal. It is in our lowest moments, and the hardest circumstances that we get to see what we are made of, it is our "weakness" which makes us strong. It is our greatest sorrow that cleans us out so that we may know the greatest of joys.
On Joy and Sorrow
Kahlil Gibran

Your joy is your sorrow unmasked.
And the selfsame well from which your laughter rises was oftentimes filled with your tears.
And how else can it be?
The deeper that sorrow carves into your being, the more joy you can contain.
Is not the cup that holds your wine the very cup that was burned in the potter's oven?
And is not the lute that soothes your spirit, the very wood that was hollowed with knives?
When you are joyous, look deep into your heart and you shall find it is only that which has given you sorrow that is giving you joy.
When you are sorrowful look again in your heart, and you shall see that in truth you are weeping for that which has been your delight.

Some of you say, "Joy is greater than sorrow," and others say, "Nay, sorrow is the greater."
But I say unto you, they are inseparable.
Together they come, and when one sits, alone with you at your board, remember that the other is asleep upon your bed.

Verily you are suspended like scales between your sorrow and your joy.
Only when you are empty are you at standstill and balanced.
When the treasure-keeper lifts you to weigh his gold and his silver, needs must your joy or your sorrow rise or fall.

Why Coaching?

  • Because you want to find the joy in your sorrow.
  • Because you know there is more going on here than we can see on the surface.
  • Because you do want to find your way out of the self-defeating cycles and voices that are running your life.
  • Because you haven't found a way to believe that what has happened to you in your life could be of any benefit to you, but you want to.
  • Because you are WORTH your time and energy and investment.
  • Because what is happening to you is not your fault, but you are the only one who can pull yourself out of it.
  • Because you need help and support.

Coaching is a partnership between coach and client. We will work together to help you meet your needs, goals and desires. To find and bring them forth. To create space in your life for the "next grandest version" of yourself.

I will not tell you what to do or believe. I will however help you to discover ways to connect more deeply with yourself and your own personal meaning/passion/desires so you can be more present to yourself and in your life. This way will be different for every client and your process is unique to you.

I can help you focus and hold you accountable to yourself. How many times have you set goals for yourself or vowed to spend more time gaining understanding in your life only to “get too busy” and put if off a while longer? I know I have more times than I can count.

Partnering with a coach is a great way to gain the needed momentum to accomplish anything whether it is physical, mental, emotional or spiritual in nature. After all, these areas of your life are so interconnected, if you start working with one, your commitment to intention is going to affect all the others of your life as well.

If you know deep inside of you that there is more than meets the eye to explore about your situation and you are ready to dive in, you have come to the right place.

About Coaching with Alicia

Picture
Just like a seedling ready to burst forth if given the right conditions, I believe that you have and know everything you need to in order for you to create a bold, beautiful life, a life of your dreams.

My goal is to help you discover that.

Coaching can be a very useful tool. Just like finding the right tool for any job, it is important to find the right coach for you and your situation.

I specialize in coaching people who are have found themselves in circumstances which are challenging, fearful, grief-inducing, or stagnant but are ready to look deeply at these situations, to find greater meaning and understanding within what seems like a negative life event.

  • Death of a loved one, sometimes sudden and unexpected
  • Divorce/Breakup
  • Loss of a Job and Financial Insecurity
  • Health Issues and Chronic Illness
  • End of Life Issues for yourself or a loved one/Looking for Closure
  • Infertility and Miscarriage
  • Accidents and Injuries
  • The seemingly “small” losses that create huge burdens of grief and anger if not dealt with.

My goal is to foster conversations that hold space for new ways of looking at your life and the world at large. Helping you find your way though the forest of doubt, fear, despair, anger, and out onto the cliff for a wider view, eventually finding a way for you to reenter the forest anew. To create space and observe the beauty you are surrounded by, take in the multi-colored carpet of flowers, the interconnected mycelial webs, notice how the trees shelter and protect.

I will ask questions that may seem challenging to answer, but I will also give you tools to tap into your own knowing so you can discover things inside of yourself that you may have never dreamed possible before. Together we will write you a new story, create you a map to bring forth your heart's deepest calling.

Am I Ready?

That is an important question. Not everyone is ready for this type of inquiry and that is no failing. We must all honor where we are and what season of life we are in.

If upon reading the rest of this page you feel inspired, joyful, light-hearted or like you are being seen clearly you are probably ready. If you are committed to change and ready to take responsibility for yourself in new and possibly challenging ways, you are ready.

In some situations seeking the help of a qualified psychiatrist or counselor may be a better fit for you. I do not treat mental health issues directly, but I can help people struggling with mental health challenges discover and embrace more of the beauty and power of who they are. Sometimes we have to stop waiting for the world to make room for us and just be our big, beautiful selves.
